Seems like our evenings are so much in demand that we had two sessions this month with a lot of focus on rhythm and percussion. Got some really good jam sessions going and some really good solo performances from some of our newer members. Everyone's playing seems to be really taking off this year so looking forward to getting some stage space sometime this year. Can't believe this is our 6th year now and we're still going strong...thanks to everyone for making it happen! I am looking at an extra date for April and it looks like the 17th is going to be on..just waiting for confirmation. Sadly I'll be missing the scheduled date but will hopefully be busking in Marrakech for my supper no doubt Cool See you all soon!

Quite a packed house tonight (where were you Darren/Tim??) so all of us got stuck into some rhythm work and also got to play about with vocals..fillng the room with the usual menagerie of dogs frogs and kookaburras! Another good game which involved everyone (no c/b required) was the rhythm round where each person plays four beats then the next one picks up on the next four and so on. This turned out to be great fun and is a really good way to practice your timing...just need someone with a cowbell or something keeping time!. Also got some flute playing in which is starting to be a regular piece and Adrian has sort of promised he'll bring his flutes in next time (?). Another thing planned is a friend of mine to come along to one of our sessions with her cello which could turn out to be very interesting..watch this space!

Here's to another year of the Banbury Didge Club!! Not quite the large turnout tonight but the three of us (Chris, Darren and myself) had a great evening with lots of improvisational percussion and great didge beats...got a bit of a djembe dialogue going with plenty of tama interruption! Hopefully Darren's got three rhythms to take away with him to practice? Looking forward to the February BDC as we should be a full house for that night! Looking forward to seeing you all then..Smile

We were the festive four tonight and many thanks to Adrian for the stollen and Chris for the mulled wine! (I am still picking crumbs out of beeswax!) Another good evening where we were treated to a volley of Adrian's solos in the corridor...reckon he'll be starting his own club/fansite soon :) Also spent time doing some rhythm work which went well..if only we could find a way of remembering what we did...suppose we're going to have to write stuff down I guess. Good news also is that Darren will be with us once more in the New Year as he has been roaming the country these last months so I am sure he will have loads to tell us in January. Chris H will be back form NZ in February (hope you're better now) and do hope to get a glimpse of Tim sometime soon. I will get the new dates for 2009 up on the site as soon as I can. In the meantime here's wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas and a most excellent New Year!!
