Quite a full house tonight and a very warm welcome to Simon our newest member who came along with some fine sticks...we are amassing quite a collection between us now so plenty to choose from. Had a lot of fun getting everyone involved in some timing exercises and keeping a simple rhythm going round the table. Got some good sounds coming out now and many of us are mastering the faster toot rhythms which is good to see. We hope Darren can make next month as we need some serious drum accompaniment. I have made enquiries about African Linx buit no responses yet..keep you posted on that one. Looking forward to hearing all about the DHF Adrian..sounds like it went well and I really want to see your new didge!! In the meantime enjoy the rest of the summer and hope to see you all end of August.

A beautiful summers evening for the June meeting...great to catch up with Darren again and enjoyed listening to his new found rhythms! Had a great evening with some interesting rhythm work and playing about with some complicated syncopation invollving toots. We are all agreed on one thing...where do you get the breath in?? Looks like soon we are going to have to put something together for the Africanlinx festival because it's not that far away..I will endeavour to get hold of Tim at some point. Definitely got two workshops booked in for the Peace Festival next year and we need to get some sounds down as we could get a slot on the bandstand (main stage maybe too ambitious?) Really looking forward to the Singing Sticks Festival http://www.singingsticks.co.uk/ so hope to see a few of you there. I am llooking to get there mid afternoon so get the kettle on! See you there or at the next BDC on the 31st July :)

Nearly midsummer can you believe it! Such nice weather that we nearly decided to play outside as it was so warm! All the regulars here again and time to show off the didge I won at the Tapeley raffle!!! I am especially pleased as it is in the same pitch as my sycamore (F) so Chris and I got some good dialogue going in the corridor! Chris H coming on well too and I hope he carries on with his journey as he is learning fast! Paul brought the Queen Mary along which was nice to see and hear again and some good drum patterns starting to emerge..we need now to concentrate on keeping the volume under control so we can get some didges in as well...could be interesting! See you all on June 26th and don't forget the Leamington Peace Festival on the 13th for anyone who wants to come along..I'll be doing the kids workshop at 4pm.

Well I just had to have an extra session before I went to Marrakech so we ended up with a good turnout. Got down to doing more vocal stuff and rhythm building and everyone seems to be getting the hang of toots and other percussive elements of didge playing. We're going to have to start putting down some set pieces soon I reckon as we sem to play along together rather nicely now..made easier by having a base rhythm we all know how to play. Looking forward to next months BDC and of course the Gathering at Tapeley Park!!
