Has been quite a busy month for us what with the Hook Norton Beer Festival and the Pear Tree Fun Day for performance venues! All went really well and I think we are becoming masters of the narrow stage as I had to compete with the backstage cobwebs at the Pear Tree! The August BDC was great fun with a break from rehearsing so we got down to some free form jamming and a new game which I have called Chinese Didge Whispers - this entails someone making a series of sounds then the rest of us have to take turns to copy the exact pattern - quite a good learning tool and good fun as well. Next challenge for us is to find Jon a didge bag for the 'Whore' as we have penned his monster bell - does look like he is bringing a Christmas tree to the session :) Looking forward to the next BDC already where we may have yet another new member - possibly?

SINGING STICKS 2010 - our first real gig! What a fantastice performance it was for everyone concerned and a big thank you to all for making it happen. The set was brilliant and sounded fantastic despite some loss of breathing along the way! Things can only get better and better! Good to see Jon and Chris have acquired new didges (thanks Tall Paul) we will avoid any jokes about large bellends! What a great weekend it was with the best weather and great company. Thanks also to Julie aka Mother Hen who managed to feed the proverbial 5,000 on Friday night with a super veggie curry and to Jon for keeping me stocked with cider! Oh yeah thanks to Mack Yidaki for breaking our hearts! Really enjoyed the drumming Friday night Darren..think we should do something for the set maybe? All eyes now looking ahead to the Hook Norton Beer Festival where we will be performing in rustic style in the middle of a field..should be great fun. See you all there..bring it on!!!

Stagefright anybody?? With Singing Sticks looming forever closer and closer we have been practicing hard to get our set fine tuned for our first proper performance. As with most didge stuff the hardest bit is remembering who does what where and how we start and finish. However we have some excellent timekeepers amongst us (Darren!) so reckon all will be fine. Everyone is very keen and i think we are all pretty excited about being a real presence at the festival just a pity we couldn't all stay the whole weekend :( Oh yes nearly forgot CONGRATULATIONS to Jon for cracking the CB! Awesome effort and we look forward to your first solo very soon (you see Paul it can be done mate!) See you all in Northampton!!

Thought I'd put these two together as they incorporated the hectic rehearsals for the Bloxham Festival! All proved to be well worth it as the set went incredibly well with all of us remembering our starts and finishes with even some ad lib as well. Outstanding effort from everyone and I think we now have a solid foundation on which to build future sets. Had a really good evening on the 20th and it seems we have a budding drumming genius in Jon P who impressed us all with his new found rhythm...best of all though was the virtual breakthrough with the CB as well...any minute now mate!  The temperature in the room certainly picking up in the summery heat and we had great fun putting together some ideas for new stuff with everyone joining in. All eyes are now fixed on our performance at the Singing Sticks Festival on the Friday evening where we hope to excel once more..then straight after that it will be the Hook Norton Beer Festival the weekend after!!!! Don't know if I will get used to this rock star lifestyle to be honest :) See you all in June!
